Hi guys,
Here's a question....
I have a new v1.6 xbox with a brown dvd cable which would make it a 'b'.
BUT according to the xbox-scene version checker, it still has a samsung ram chip which would make it an 'a'!
So which bios do I use - evo m8 or evo m8 plus?
Is evo m8 plus compatable with both 'a' and 'b'?

http://evox.xboxhackz.net/ dated 11/8/04 states Evolutionx M8 plus Now works on 1.6B. Always did work on 1.6A. Just be sure to grab the right M8. There are two versions. One for 1.0-1.5 and one for 1.6 only.
M8.BIN Is a new BIOS based on the latest 5838 kernel, and has the same features as M7,
It will work on XBOX versions (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5)
M8_16.BIN Is also based on the 5838 kernel and has the same features as M7.

yeh just use the m8+
if you have samsung memory then is a 1.6a tho so normal m8 will work, brown cable thing is crap, have had loads of a's with brown cables, the only difference between an a and b is that they used a cheaper supplier of mem chips (hynix) and so the bios needs to adjust

Does this auto installer allow you to manually flash the bios?
I used the Slayer earlier on my 1.6 box with a SmartXX chip. I can not flash the chip through the slayer, and can't extract the bios from that disk either.
What I am trying to do is use a bios with Evox that will allow me to installe evox on my F drive and load from that drive so my c and e drive can be left alone.
I have a 250 gb drive with a 120 some gb F partition and remaining on G, so I am trying to figure out what bios is best, and where to get it.
