Ok I am new to the whole xbox soft modding scene, but I ran into some trouble after Installing xbmc dashboard onto my new hdd. I think the problem might have been that when I used SID to install the other dashboard, it also installed xbmc into my apps folder. I think the double installation might be my problem because the xbox and hdd were working fine before using AID. I also used AID installer to instal xbpartitioner as well since my hdd is 320gb but I can only see about 100gb of it on my F partition. Some good news is I saved my old XB HDD, and I also have my xboxhdm cd that I made to build my HDD and lock it. Is there a way I can fix this. I do not have the resources to hot swap my hdd fyi. The IDE cable in my computer is not long enough, and I really dont want to have to find a new one.

Ok I fixed it but it wasnt super pretty. I had to use xboxhdm to unlock my hd d and then redo the whole thing. Since I wasnt very far along in the whole process it wasnt to bad because I didnt lose much, but it still was a a pain in the butt.

For future reference error7 is hdd timeout/hdd not detected. Which usually means a loose ide connection either to the motherboard, to the hdd or both. Answer double check em and make sure the cable is firmly plugged

Yes I did find that by looking on the online guides, but after retrying my connections it still did not work. I also switched my jumper to cable select from master. I figured it was an auto installer caused error. I am going to try and redownload a different copy of aid, uninstall my xbmc app. Then try reinstalling it as my dash.

Save yourself some time man, grab XBMC Insaller 3.2.2 it has the latest stable XBMC where as AID has latest stable from like 3 years ago. In rare cases and Ie personal seen it myself E7 can be aused by corrupted C files, but as I said thats rare very rare. 9 outa 10 times an E7 will come back to the IDE not being firmly plugged. Maxtor seems to be an exception and get banged by the E7 I mentioned above. I have personally owned 2 Maxtor drives that kicked E7 even when cables were tip-top, and Ive fixed 5 or 6 XBOX with Maxtor E7 for people here. Im sure there are other brands/models that get some form of corruption that force the timeout and hence kick an E7

Yes it must have been the Maxtor drive problem. I was able to put in spkintrr cell and still access my harddrive with the FTP. Do you find it's better to have xbmc uninstalled from apps folder before installing it as a dash?
