a dump is a dump! assuming these files are up to snuff (they WILL be as UG has VERY STRICT QC, one of which i adhere to and it's f*cking HARD submitting ANYTHING without the upper staffs approvals FIRST! i have sixteen torrents uploaded/seeding there now..that wasn't easy! still need to write up more torrents!) they will work if used correctly! this item DID get a GOLDEN TORRENT AWARD and that aint a cakewalk!

I found a list of games that had trouble playing from the hdd and did my best to patch them. Games like Fight Club had had some form of DRM where it would tell you at the main menu that you can't play it off of a hard drive but that was taken care of by a default.xbe replacement. Some other scene games needed .pff fixes applied to the .iso to run and I made sure to do it to every game I could find patches for.
I couldn't find a patch for Hulk: Ultimate Destruction but if you try to launch it through dvd2xbox it should auto apply a fix to let it run off of a hdd. I'm pretty sure I got most of them but if you find a game that doesn't work but had a patch available years ago try to do that.
I also applied the offline fix for Phantasy Star Online so it can be played disconnected from Live. Some games with long/weird filenames still won't work off of a hard drive in the original xbox but are kinda there on a 360 since the drive doesn't have to be FATX formatted. Games that don't work at all are still included for people to make .iso files of and future emulation purposes.

Thanks for the response. I know UG is strict about quality so people don't waste their download credit on bad files.
Here's what I know:
'Ripping' means using a program to make a complete copy of a disk such as a CD or DVD. Nothing is lost or compressed. True/False?
I think a 'dump' means suing a piece of electronic hardware to read game data from a cartridge? True/False?
Finally it appears 'redump' is just the name of a site that preserves old video game ROMs, computer programs etc? The same can be said of TOSEC? True/False?

No ripping means its a cut down version. Down sampled video, cut scenes removed etc. Look at most of the wink winks Ive put up. Those are rips. Dump is a true 1 to 1 copy

okay, redump and tosec catalogue RETAIL images on a 1/1 basis!
a perfect mirror!
RIGHT, as for a "program creating and xbox image", that'll be CXBOXTOOL or QUIX101 on the computer BUT in terms of DUMPING the RETAIL disk to xbox hdd, NO...just DVD2xbox or UNLEASHX frontend to copy the directory to hdd...disabling "auto-patch xbe" setting OBVIOUSLY as this'll alter the default.xbe and CORRUPT the hash verification!
no programs required to dump an xbox image other than UNLX and DVD2xbox...
all you do is FTP that off the console through CXBOXTOOL or QUIX101 to rebuild that dumped retail disk directory back to TRUE XISO!
there's tutorials about!
also, visit redump and TOSEC, you'll know what the hashes and CRC verifications are ALL about! it's where i go to compare the integrity/authenticity of my dumps as well as the ones i find!
(also look into md5, sfv, sha1 hashtags and how to create them yourself to verify a retail image! redump and TOSEC DON'T do hacks or bootleg catalogues, just retail ONLY!)

well, as i understand it, we're on a FORUM where there's NO such thing as a "too long/verbose question"...
they NEED to be asked as informative and drawn out as possible then nothing is left to chance/guesses!
i'll be the first to admit i DON'T get "the hint" unless it's spelled out to me A-Z style! at least there, i can formulate a response based on the "expanded" info/reasoning before me!
provide as MUCH info/coverage as possible and you'll find the solutions may come back to you with fewer responses! (and i'm not looking a twat shooting in the dark and you get the answers you set out for!)
spell it out, be THOROUGH to the core! leave NO detail omitted no matter how insignificant you may think it is! (all in the aid of rapid resolve)

there's single torrent entities that are in the terabytes upwards sizes there! that's just a server snack, less than half a TB!
have a look at the redump and tosec sets there! make your hdd take a shit, get a server stack and you may just have enough capacity to get a whole redump/tosec set!
of course going for that kind of madness would require nothing less than an industrial grade pipe just to get it within any reasonable timeframe...f*ck two megabyte download, try ten megabyte a second download on a set and you may get it within a lifetime! (sorta) NO consumer ISP tariff will foot that bastard bandwidth allotment, commercial pipes only!
