Well if I do as the directions say it simply doesn't work at all. I had to change the folder isolinux to syslinux and change the files isolinux.bin to syslinux.bin and isolinux.boot to syslinux.boot. I than can proceed normally. However it gets stuck at the screen where you type xboxhd and it says "Linux CD not found". So do I need to change the folder back to isolinux but leave syslinux.boot since I take it it's the boot file? And change the syslinux.bin to isolinux.bin? Please help. I installed the v8 update files into the 1.9b hdm and put it all on an 8gb flash drive.
If I don't change anything and leave it as is I get an error "No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!".
Why couldn't this be set correctly the first time so we don't have these issues? this is so annoying.
I don't have any blank discs. I have the Secondary IDE cable disconnected. I have only the Primary IDE cable connected to the hard drive in the xbox which is displaying the code 12 as preferred.
thanks

Just to let people know so they arent scared away from a good app, we got Chris squared away and from the looks of things it was a BIOS issue that was the culprit. Pimped CD Edition ended up being the charm in this case. But due to that fact that HDM2.2 had the same issue its its open and shut as to where the failure lies. Let this be a lesson to all DONT USE INTEL WITH HDM

Hi firstly, I am new here as well as a noob, so please excuse any ignorance of protocols etc.....I got here becsause I had the same issue as Chris "Linix CD not found" when trying to upgrade to a larger HDD. using the latest version of xbox hdm (1.9?)
I then tried to use Chimp but it got me part way and failed also so now I get a code 5 error
After reading the reply to his request for help I was wondering if you would be willing to supply more details of your answer to me as well.
I have a 300gb drive I wish to build and then just install into the box. The original drive is inaccessible so I will just start from scratch.
Thanks for your time

There seems to be a virtualization issue with some PC BIOS. They way 1.9b works is it basicaly spoofs as an HDD to get it to run, but it appears not all BIOS will accept that. The XBOX dev scene is basicaly dead so I was unable to get any testers so I was only able to ever test it on one machine before release (the one in the video). If anyone gets the virtualization issue let me know because obviously this is something Im gonna need to work on.
If you cant get 1.9b to work for you, you get the CD not found message, and if you have tried 2.2 with same result than that means your BIOS is on the shit list so to speak. But there are alternatives to it that have been fully tested by trial of fire and have worked for 100s to 1000s like Autobuilder and Pimped.
All my larger installers are hosted off-site due to their size and limited space for hosting here and on the VIP FTP Server. You can download them for free and with out joining the site.
The new and improved Pimped Final (there will be a new edition in a bit I finaly truly defeated the 2GB boot limit on my Autobuilder installer which was developed after this and will be implementing the same methodology)
http://theisozone.com/downloads/xbox/tools/pimped-final-v2/
Ive gotten nothing but positive feedback on all these HDM based installers so Im sure one will do exactly what you are looking for

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I have retrieved my xbox from the dumpster and will try again…..maybe you would be kind enough to give me some clear direction as to the best method of clearing the situation.
After reading your tutorials I think I have 3 options.
(Xbox is showing code 5 service error…pulling the dvd ide cable results in code 12 error.)
1) Build a disc and repair ….but….
Is there a way I can get the eprom/files etc so they can be included when creating the new disc ?
2) Clone the Drive …..
Is it still possible to clone the original harddrive .
3) Virgin Disc
I have a 300gb blank harddrive…..what would be your suggestion on the best method to to build from scratch considering I have no xbox files to work from.?
I have watched your tutorials many times and re read all the tutorials and how to’s several times….they are very clear and easy to follow, it is just that I am starting with a major problem and I don’t understand enough about the problem itself to work out how to use your tools correctly to solve it.
On a more positive note . I originally did a soft mod Splinter Cell exploit on the box last week . Is there anywhere I can post the flashdrive details for ayone else that may want to do it . I used a 4gb San Disk Cruzer Blade, all the compatability lists I saw where very out of date and none of the USB drives are available now but this one worked.
Thanks Warren

This should set you straight. If you want your XBOX to be loaded right up use Autobuilder instead of CD Edition. The procedure is exactly the same. And Autobuilder includes a video tutorial as well. Just follow the hotswap video so that you can get the eeprom then include it for building your 300

Hi, seems to be a Bios issue with my comp.
I tried both methods and it keeps coming up Linux disc not found....I messed with the BIOS until it only had the HDD showing as Master and the CDROM, showing as SLAVE and no other channels detecting and it didn't make any difference. I tested the CD's in my Laptop and they both got to the Hard disk maker Menu without a hitch.
I will post the BIOS type etc tomorrow as a reference for for you in case this problem happens to someone else. I am still open to suggestions...
Thanks for your help,
Warren

What are you using for media, what did you use to burn it and at what speed. Ive gotten failures like that before on my dev tower and Ive usualy been able to fix it by switching media or burn speed.
For CD-r I use Philips burned at 24x with ImgBurn
DVD-r I use Fuji or Maxell burned at 8x with Imgburn
The other option if it gets you to the first screen pick option 2 instead of option 1.

Hi again..
Media Kodak CD -R burnt at 4X
Philips DVD +R burnt 2X both on latest Imagebirn.
I am a noob ot games consoles but my hobby is reclaiming old comps from trash etc and rebuilding them for kids and people who can't afford them, so I am quiet comfortable with PC rebuilds etc.
While testing the Pimped CD again it said it was unable to find /dev/hda
I am dual booting WinXP and Linux Mint....WinXP is shown as E drive
I think Linux lists it as hdb..... hda (C drive) is a storage disc.
Any chance that my set up is causing the issue with your programme ?
My laptop has a standard install of WinXP on C as sda (Primary Master) and doesn't seem to be having problems.

Unhook all HDD, you want the XBOX HDD hooked up as master on the primary IDE channel and the DVD drive as either Slave on the primary channel or else hooked to the secondary IDE channel. If the PC you are using has an Intel CPU stop now and switch to one running AMD. Intel chokes on XBOXHDM

Seems I have hit a brick wall. I have tried the ide set up you suggested and I have also had all the SATA turned off as well as unplugged.
I am running a Pentium D 3.06ghz cpu on a Gigabyte mobo with Intel G33 Express Chipset.
I don't think I will be able to get a AMD PC short of buying one which is an expensive outlay for one job.
Reflecting on all this I feel that the days of the XBOX are numbered The ide cable is being superseded by SATA and will become as redundant as the Floppy drive....harddrive repair/replacement will become impossible.
Thanks for your help I haven't given up just run out of options for the moment

When using CDs always burn at 24x and DVD at 8x. Intel will cause lots of issues but can be used. Ive got a Celeron tower I use as a backup for making HDDs. It wont boot Linux Locking tools and I have to use Failsafe mode and DOS Locking with it

Ptogress at last......I have 2 dvd drives one is IDE and one SATA so I tried Pimped in the SSATA and it seems to get past the "Can't find CD".
It says there is ni disk on hda so I loaded gparted and it has sda listed as a SATA disc and me ide is listed as sdd..
Next step is to shut down all the SATA channels and see if the BIOS will set the IDE as Primary SDA . here's hoping. BTW MY PC is running AWARD Bios..

Is the Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge architechture better for locking with? _________________
