I just installed an executer 2.6 ce modchip into my 1.6v xbox. The modchip lights up everything works, loaded everything on the new hdd from the auto installer formatted the new hdd and everything else. Just one problem i have no sound but i have video and everything else works. Now i've scoured the internet looking for what the problem is and i can't find any else ever having this problem before which i find hard to believe. I know its not the tvs inputs bc i've tested that, its not the av cable bc thats been tested also on another xbox and sound plays. I did the pinheader install and soldered very carefully. The sound worked prior to the chip install. Even with the chip turned off i still have no sound. If anyone can help me out here it would be much appreciated.
Come on guys someone anyone throw me a bone here i've been looking all over can't find any solution to this, someones gotta have an idea or something. Please!

Do any of the pins in the pinheader have to do with audio? Also what about the lpc any part of that have to do with the audio?

Hi Consiglieri07,
If the sound worked before you installed the chip and when you turn the modchip off it doesn't work then it sounds to me like something may be damaged on the board, could even be the sound chip. Very rare from my experience.
My only suggestion would be to try and change the audio settings from the original xbox dashboard.. If you only have a hacked dashboard installed go and install the retail dashboard from AIDELUXE and flick about with your sound settings..
Like you said, you have already tried another Av cable so it cant be that.
Only other cable you could try is a HD AV cable with fibre optic output.
anyway, hopefully one of the guys see you post over the holidays and give you more info.
enjoy the sites and sorry i couldn't help you further, good luck!

I'll try that but i didn't burn any traces or anything like that and isn't the sound chip near where you plug in the av cable in the back? Like i said it was my first install so i was very careful, not saying something couldn't of happened, but where exactly is the sound chip located.

Can you give us some more information about your Xbox.. Like what version it is NTSC/PAL - Version 1.0/1.6 etc??
Hopefully it may be something as simple as the wrong bios has been flashed but then again AIDELUXE would not boot. I'm just trying to throw some ideas out there for you.. Wes213 has plenty of experience with x2.6 ce's so maybe shoot him a pm. He is always active in the forums with the USA flag icon or similar. _________________ HQ Network:

Also i tried the ms dash audio settings and that didn't work. I did see somewhere that someone else said it could be the wrong bios, and with the whole flashing bios thing that has me confused b/c no matter what bank i choose it always flashes the bios in 256k four times, i was using the bios that was on the aid disc and picking 512k but it always does 256k. I'm a newbie to all this so i'm pretty lost when it comes to the bios stuff. What stumps me is everything works just no sound so idk if thats possible with the wrong bios.

I used the m8+1.6 FC bios, but my main problem is i have no sound whatsoever, everything else works i just have no sound after the install, when i turn the chip off same no sound, doesn't look like i burned any traces or anything like that, the only thing i found on the internet was maybe it was a wrong bios and that was suggested on here to as well thats where the bios stuff comes from, i just can't figure out why i have no sound, the first post above gives all the details

Well if you have no sound with out the chip or with it then it sounds like the audio chip has went out on it, you said there are no dead traces and new AV cables don't help so all i could come up with is a dead audio chip.
Not what you want to hear im sure but sometimes the obvious answer is correct and i hope i am wrong but with out hands on time with the box i cant say for sure.

The LED on the chip comes on and whether the chip is switched on or off theres no sound. Is it possible the bios on the original xbox chip is bad and thats y theres no sound? Reaching a little bit lol
