I'm considering my options as to what to go for when installing a softmod to my xbox. Specifically I'm considering the difference between 'Standard for HD' and 'Standard'.
The Auto-Installer Deluxe manual states:
"Installing the Softmod for HD (High Definition) means that your Softmod will be set so your Xbox is best displayed with a High Definition TV"
But that's as far as it goes. I couldn't find much more information about the difference between the two single-boot softmod options. My needs are fairly limited, to swap in a larger HDD, back up and play games from the HDD, use emulators, use XBMC.
If the mod changes the video output how does this affect game video output? In my case a PAL game will use 576i50 for the output for the older standard - doe sthe mod change the video output for games as well, such that the output will then become in line with the HD standard - is there an extra layer of conversion that may interfere with the original video output? Or does the HD output only apply to XBMC etc, but reverts for games? Are there any caveats when it comes to using the HD setup - does anyone have any advice or experience to offer on the HD setup?

Perhaps I'm making things more complicated than they should be.
Is the High Definition option only for those people that have the microsoft HD AV pack (or equivalent)?
