Hey guys. I gotta xbox here that's never been opened or never been modded in any way. It just so happens that it turns on at random. Now, since it's never been opened, I thought it should eliminate the possibility of a short. But then I guess it could short out wether it's been opened or not. IDK I'm lost on this one guys. Maybe a bad resistor? Any suggestions? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Yeah, I`d be tempted to put a bullet in it ............ Pull the motherboard out and check near the two controller port connectors, see if theres any corrosion on the traces, top and bottom of the board.

@Wes
That's what I thought too! lol

@darth
Unfortunately it's not mine or I would've already had it apart lol you should have known it wasn't mine when I said it wasn't modded lol

@user1
Yeah I read that on another site that people who mod their controller ports often have the same problem but this one's never been opened. But I will definately try this and I'll get back and let you guys know what the deal is. Thanks for the replies guys.

Later,

SiK

Even if its not modded its worth checking, if you`re in a humid environment the front end of the mobo sometimes shows some corrosion on the traces due to the air being pulled in through those vents under the front panel.
