A little history. I took my xbox to a guy to get a soft mod and to load XBMC on it. I brought it home and was blown away with how well it handled my MP3 and DIVX collection. After using it without any problems for 2 months, I decided a to buy another xbox and sof mod it myself. I came here and downloaded the newest versions of SID and AID. After several hours of reading and experimentation, I got the new xbox up and running.

My setup is a completely wired network with mostly XP based PCs. I play all MP3s and DIVX files from network shares.

When I started playing music, everything sounded great. However, after several minutes, the songs would start cutting out ever so slightly. This never happened in the two months of using the other modded xbox.

Another thing I noticed was that I thought the visualizations were much better on the new xbox. They appeared much higher resolution

Now, my question: Why does this xbox skip when playing MP3 files? Are the visualizations the culprit? If not, where else can I look for the problem. How can I fix it?

What type of share are you using?
SMB,UPNP or what?

The first xbox and the new one might be different builds and thats why you would get different visualizations.

I'm using SMB. Yes they are different builds. Yje 1st one was done by someone else using whatever method he uses. Mine was done with AID.

I figured the visualizations were due to this difference.

Question remains, how can I fix it?

You could update the XBMC dash with the link under my sig and as for the streaming part you might need to adjust your cache in the XBMC settings.

I would start with the internet audio cache, maybe up the amount a bit and see if it helps at all.
