Morning here we go again on another xbox.
Just bought the xbox off ebay tried a copied disc and says (its dirty or not original) so i thought it was not modded.
So started up splinter cell i got to aid problem is i cant back anything up as in ms dash because its not there so what should i do now please.

Hmmm, its kinda hard to understand your post.
If you say the MS dash is 'not there' then install it from the aid disc, I'm pretty sure its on there.

If the box aint modded he cant install the MS dash from aid quads, best bet and fastest fix is to chip it man.

How about ftping in to the xbox would that work?
Basically when it boots it boots to the msdash
It will not play backed up games
When running aid from the splinter cell game save i can back the eeprom up but not the MSDASH it says already modded (hopefully this makes sense)

Dont want to pay, lol you get what you pay for.
Sounds like it has a virtual C drive, have you tried launching with the eject button not the power button?

Tried that and it just boots to the msdash.
What about if i ftp ce and q drive from a soft modded xbox and put them straight onto this xbox would that work?
Or can i download the ms dash and ftp it onto this xbox that way i can back it up!!
Ill wait for a reply or im sure i will brick it lol

First just check to make sure you can FTP it, if it wont boot AID i fear it wont take the ftp.

Well in the end i got xbmc on the drive (but an old version) so i decided to use t3ch to upgrade to the newest version (for iplayer). And now ive got error 16!!!!! again.
So heres my question i dont have a pc with ide all sata but i do have three other xboxes.
Can i do the following
1) unlock the drive by pulling the cd rom ide cable and power out so it displays error 12 (which if im not mistaken then means the drive is unlocked)
2) Then unplug the ide cable but keep in the power and insert this cable into a working xbox (drive unlocked so should be able to set the time??)
Would this work???
