[s]Yes, yes I know what it is, but I don't quite understand it. I replaced the motherboard and HD yesterday (bought a new xbox unmodded). I popped it in and now I get an error 9. This is not modded in any way-- yet. If anyone could help meh, please do. I'd really appreciate it.
EDIT: I just pulled the DVD's IDE and the error was still 9. The master IDE goes the the HD right? On a Seagate, where does the jumper go?
EDIT 2: Just tried it three times and it booted up the the Dashboard. On the third try, it froze up on the memory option. When I was rebooting, it gave me a blinking green LED error up until the error 09 came up (then the orange/ green flashing LED).[/s]
EDIT 3: Turns out the IDE arrangement is different on the xbox than on the PC (?). The master and the CPU side are switched-- found that out when I reassembled it in the Xbox case (BTW, I was putting it in a PC case). So all is good now. Thanks... for moral support? Haha.

I have found the info for you. It seems there is either an ATA cable not plugged in all the way or the controller for your ata is fubared...just check all your cables and check the jumper on the back and make sure that it is set to Cable Select, sometimes on there as CS. Sorry ifneither of those work bro.
Service Error 09:
Info: Harddisk parameters (PIO/DMA/or size). Certain minimum size is required for a debug BIOS. According to llamma.com, error code 09 means "Xbox motherboard is having trouble communicating with the Hard Drive...this is probably due to an ATA controller on the motherboard and not due to the hard drive itself." When the error screen appears, the light around the eject button flashes red instead of green. The disc tray will not open and the system will not boot up at all. You could also have corrupt EEPROM settings. Solution(s): Make sure the jumper is on cable select (the new harddrives have many different options that you can choose depending on the way you set the jumper ..so just check it ,make sure someone didnt get confused. Try replacing the IDE cable. Get EEPROM backup
