I soft modded my box a few years ago and put a larger hdd in it I have since taken that larger hdd and put it in my pc for a media drive. I still have the orignial 8gb hdd which I formated to use in my pc while my xbox was modded. I must have deleted my back up on my pc at some point so I have no c or e drive back up.
Now to my question:
How can I get a copy of factory c and e drive? I have the eeprom # in a .cfg file and a system_eeprom.bin file which I belive I managed to save from XBMC. Can I use those files to restore my xbox hdd?
I just want to be able to play Halo from the dvd drive. As of now my box turns on and shows the xbox logo then says your xbox needs service.
Thanks

You need a copy of xboxhdm and the MS dash C and E drive from the auto installer deluxe disk, that with your eeprom back up should do the trick.

is there any way to open the system_eeprom.bin file and make sure it's formated correctly and not some random XBMC file? I opened the system_eeprom.cfg file in note pad and it has my correct serial # so I assume the eeprom in there is correct to my xbox.
I dont want to repair the hdd and find that the eeprom.bin is just some random file from XBMC but then again I will jsut be in the same place as I am not just with a formated xbox hdd that doesn't work on my xbox.
thanks

I would say that is your eeprom but if its not the only way to get the right eeprom for sure is eeprom reader or a chip.

I found the xboxhdm iso disc from when I created my "new" larger drive so I've got all the important files I need but....the hdd is locked and I can't get it unlocked tried a few different ways.
Anyone have a tutorial on how to unlock a drive with xboxhdm? I couldn't get it to work. If all else fails I have a 40gb maxtor hdd I can give up so my box can live another day.
Thanks
