I know im not to far off from completing an install of a 250 GB Maxtor HD model 6B250R but ran into a problem. I have a soft modded ver 1.0 xbox with unleash x and XBMC. I copied all my contents using the xboxhdm 1.9 method and locked it using the linux tool. I put it in the xbox and fired it up and it froze on the xbox logo?? I saw a tutorial on you tube and on the last 2 mins the guy stated that if it was soft modded and copied on to the new one I would run into problems? Me and my brother got way to far to just quit now. Any suggestions out there on where to restart or what to do next? The original HD has no games or saves of anything basically bare except for the soft mod. Im pretty new at this so any inforamtion would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

If you have the eeprom or the new HDD is not locked i would copy the stock HDD with chimp.
Chimp can be found on the AID disk.

But just two more questions....My hard drive has been partitioned (files copied from orig) and locked...can I go through the Chimp process with my hard drive in this state? With it being soft modded and XBMC on it will this affect this process in anyway? I just don't want any surprises and want this to go as smooth as possible.....thank you again guys!

Ok
Yes, the file structure of your current drive will be copied exactly as they are, so it will be fine if you HDD is partitioned. It also won't matter whether the drive is locked, as no actual data is being written to that drive, merely being read and copied.
Being softmodded and having XBMC will make no difference to the process, and should not cause any problems.

Ok guys I ran chimp and it looked to run flawless and booted!! Awsome!! But it did not copy over my E: partition? Which included the applications folder which had XBMC. Just as the instructions I selected entire disk byte by byte and locked it and booted up fine but no E: partition was copied over. There was one screen step that was not included and that was to see the process blind(fastest) or per 100MB. I selected blind. I then re-tried the whole process all over this time selecting to copy by partition and it copied one over but when completed, it went back to the main menu and had to start over? Man this seems so easy that they called it chimp and a monkey can do it? But why the heck cant it work for me?
THEN I did the process all over IM BACK to where I started!! It dont boot up anymore....it gets stuck at the xbox logo. Help!!??
If you know someone with a mod chip, it can be done in minutes. Have you used configmagic?
