Today i think is a day for me to remember. I got my first X-box, an x-box ready for action cause it came with xecuter 2.6 lite already installed..(i know, a true x-boxer should've installed the mod himself..)

But it seems like i got a huge problem! i have a crossover cabel, but there is no port in my laptop to support it! What can i do? How can i transfer files from my laptop to my dearly beloved x-box now!??

There are a couple ways that you can do this, firstly you can install a pcmcia card that has a network adapter, you should be able to find one for around $20 or so, check www.newegg.com The other solution would be a usb network adapter, it just plugs into usb, then you plug the network cable into it. Check the same site for those, not sure on cost on it.

thank you!

I have acquired an usb-network adaptor, but when i connect to the xbox from my laptop the network-adaptor stops blinking, and seemingly not working. when i use flashfxp and have all the settings correct (ip: 192.168.0.1 and 255.255.255.0) it says host missing (or something). How can i get the adaptor to transfer files?

If you are connecting DIRECTLY between your XBOX AND LAPTOP you will need to use a 'CROSSOVER' network lead..

If you are connection between XBOX AND LAPTOP using a HUB/ROUTER/SWITCH then you shouuld use a normal NETWORK LEAD.

There is a difference.. Ask your local computer store for a crossover if you need it.. Very cheap..

I have a usb network adapter, a normal network lead (rj45) but nothing is working. when i change the settings for ip etc. in control settings and check it in "run"-> cmd ipconfig/all nothing comes up for ipadress or anything. it just says I dont have any connection. the usb network is blinking and working when i am connected to the net, but not when i unplug it from my wall and insert it in the xbox it stops blinking and it pops up on my screen that the connection is lost. I use flashfxp, but do i need any other programs aswell? i have Evox installed in my xbox.

How can i get the usb network to actually recognise my xbox and not stop blinking?

do i need any other programs?

am i a newbie? Oh, YES I AM!

RJ45 Could mean crossover or straight. To connect your laptop directly to your xbox you need a crossover. The difference is that the send and recive wires are "crossed" to match the ports of the xbox and the laptop. send to recieve, recieve to send. If you have a straight through cable it would be send to send and recieve to recieve and nothing would work.

Also Make sure the ip you assign to your laptop isn't your xbox ip. Your laptop should have the same first 3 sets of numbers. The last number shouldn't be the same just pick a random number between 1-254 that isn't taken.

My Settings for example:

xbox: 192.168.0.4
PC: 192.168.0.70

Subnet For Both: 255.255.255.0

If I said something stupid sorry it's been a while XD
Hope this helps Smile
