I may be interested in the power supply for the v1.3 xbox. But i would like to know if mine can be repaired first. It has one burn mark right where you plug the cable in, looks like it could just be soldered.
Can I post a pic of my psu here and you guys tell me what you think?
Thanks,
Justin.

it looks like a bad solder joint that over time has eatin away. If your xbox was working fine, and now just doesnt come on at all, then yes you can just resolder that point (i would resolder both points).
If your xbox is still working but has intermitent problems (sometimes powers on and sometimes not (not= usually after its warmed up)); then again you should be able to resolder the points. AND all will be fine.
All other problems means you have 50/50 chance your xbox is ok.
Note: if that board has a bad solder joint at that one point, its possible you have others on that PS board, I would check and resolder any other points that might not look perfect.

Thanks wes and chuck,
I actually re soldered the psu before i read your comment chuck.
Everything seems to be working fine, left it on all day with no problems.
The reason I asked about it was because I didn't know if it worked or not, a friend gave me the xbox(was sitting in his closet for 1-2 years) said it started smoking real bad one day then shut off.
While I had the soldering iron out I went ahead and soldered the joints for TSOP flash.
Now I have a free modded xbox, lol. Only thing is the dvd drive has a little resistance in spinning, any idea on that?
Thanks

dvdrom spinning motor, is no different then ANY CD/DVD rom. Most likely due to dust/dirt/hair sucked into the unit. very little chance of fixing that... If the drive works intermittentanly thenyou can try to blow it out with compressed air (especailly around the motor drive)- try to avoid to much pressue against the laser-eye. it might add more time to its life. If its clouged up enough not to work-{not reading disks anymore}, then your screwed on saving it I think, a replacement is nessessary. -- Good news though. The TSOP fix you did- wasnt nessessary for softmodding, so I am assuming you plan on turning it into a LINUX only machine- you can then use a Normal CD/DVD drive with it, if thats not your plan, then a used drive replacement (ebay) will be needed. If you can get the drive to work sometimes, and can complete a SOFTMOD- then technically you could get away with not needing the drive at all anymore, by using network connection to your PC. Really just matters based on your plans with this XBOX right now. -probably more info then wanted/needed- but was trying to offer all info.
