Hi guys, hope you can help me here. I have everything set up for xbc. 2 NIC in the PC. 1 connected to cable broadband, other to xbox. Account is up and running and xbox is being found. When I try a game of halo, I get the game to the "looking for games" screen and then nothing happens even when i join a game. Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Have you turned on INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING to the NIC card that is connected to your xbox?

You have to share the internet!
Also have you got all the ports opened on your router if you have one?
Im not sure about cable.. I dont live in the USA..

It cant be too difficult though.

let us know,

cheers,

Hi again

This is the setup that I am trying to get to work.

http://www.xbchelp.com/network/setup-3.jpg

The settings for the 1st NIC (connected from modem to PC) are;
82.41.121.57 (automatically assigned)
255.255.248.0 (subnet mask)
82.41.120.1 (default gateway)

What should the settings for the 2nd NIC be (connecting PC to xbox)

XBConnect can find my xbox but i can't get any games to show up on my tv.

When the xbox is at the "looking for games" screen do I have to do anything else at this stage? I have tried joining a game at this point but it doesn't work.

Thanks again

hi,

ok.. You dont really need to set a ip addres or anything for your other network card.. (its been a while since ive played with that setup)..

As long as XBCONNECT application on your PC has found your xbox then your LOCAL AREA NIC CARD is working fine!

No you dont have to do anything.. Your xbox should find games available and then you just click the 'A' (green) XBOX BUTTON and it will JOIN THE GAME!

CAN YOU SEE GAMES BEING PLAYED?
Like when you are searching does it find any?

If it does find games to join but you CANT JOIN the game you need to OPEN PORTS on your ROUTER! Sounds like your router/modem has ports blocked.

Also if your running a firewall turn everything off until you get it working!

Get back to me and ill try and help more.

cheers,

Thanks for your help forahobby, but it's still not working. I've tried turning off my firewall but no luck. If it's the modem blocking the ports I have no idea how to unblock them(it's a webstar modem from telewest blueyonder) The xbox screen just stays at the "looking for games" screen. Do I join a game first through xbc then it shows up on the tv, or should the games that are available should up on the tv first then I select a game to join?

Sorry for all the stupid questions but I would really like to get this working

Thanks

ok ok.. I see what your doing wrong i think! (im hoping so)

When you start xbox connect you should find your xbox ok! Smile
It sounds like you have done this bit fine!

This is how i startup my xbconnect. (its been awhile).
1. Start Xbox with Game i want to play and have it in System Link mode searching for games!
2. Start Xbox Connect and make sure its found your xbox
3. Now Select the game from the list on xbconnect and then find a member that is playing the game!
4. Double click the members name (icon) and a window will popup..
This window is the GAME WINDOW.. You can chat to people via this chat window before starting your xbox game!

Normally say in Halo when you go into a room on xbconnect it will display that there is ALREADY A GAME IN PROGRESS or a GAME OPEN WAITING FOR PLAYERS..

** Your xbox wont find any GAMES unless you are in a ROOM! **

keep those questions coming mate.. Ill do my best!

cheers,

MOJO:

Check it oput I have been using XBC for bout a week or so now. this is what you gotta do. after you have the XBC program downloaded, also download the neXBC. you can use either one, I ususllay go either on emy self. then when you open the program you will see all the games, and such (rooms). have your xbox on, say to halo, go right to the system link games and then click your profile guy, then you'll get top the "looking for games " image. stay there dont do shit else. now go to the particular room you want and when you connect you''l see on you PC scrren that your connected and can chat with the participants. just how there if no one is talk or chatting, most likely they are already palying a gam if so (SOMETIMES ) it'll show on you TV what game and if it is in progress, if you see that then cool stay when a game opens it'll change back to "looking for games" screen then once the HOSt opens a new game it should show on your TV. if that does not happen, try a different room. Make sure if your in the HALO room it states HALO1 not 2. from my experience there are WAAAY too many dumb people on XBC in the HALO room and not the HALO 2 room. anywho. if none of this is working, cause Im haveing that problem to right now. then go back to the XBC main page and look under the help place. you can alos while under the XBC game page go to help and get the online help and just place you question in there and wait. once a server operator that gets the signal that there is a help chat open they will see you question and will get back to you. Ok there is a couple other things to do also. follow the router config thing that you know already. and look for the firewall setup, try that. if you can get you xbox "found" after following those instructions YOUR GOLDEN, if not and you know your firewall and router are all set up. Then that last option, which i seem to have to do alot lately (maybe because XBC is so damb busy now) follow this to the "T". 1. turn off your computer. 2. turn off you xbox. 3. turn off your router (UNPLUG IT)
4. Turn off your Modem(even if it has a power switch (UNPLUG IT). let hem sit for two minutes. 5. turn on your modem(let it cyle) 6. turn on your router. 7. turnn your computer and Xbox. 8. go to XBC or your neXBC and "find you box" that should do it. now if you have a configuration with two NIC cards then scrub them and just get a router 35$ at best buy for a D-LINK 604, which says XBOX compatible on it.(OHYEAH) and go for it that way. PM if you have more trouble, if you do the router way! I know that was a huge post and I hope you can followit, iam new too and very PC iliterate but i have figured that out. laters!
