www.divineo.net and www.xbox-mod.co.uk are both sites I've ordered from before and have found them to be very good. For a modchip I personally recommend the Xenium Ice. I use this and it is a superb modchip, though the Xecuter 3 is a very good chip as well. If you were looking for something cheaper xbox-mod.co.uk do a chip called the ALX2. This was my first chip and it did a great job. You can also disable all of these for when you want to use xbox live. Any hard drive will do for an upgrade but maxtor seem to be the best as most of them allow "locking" to the xbox (you need this to still boot to your normal dash). Yes, there is an easy way of installing everything. There is an autoinstaller called "autoinstaller deluxe" (correct me if I'm wrong DJB) and also an autoinstaller for emulators. Both of these and many other really good applications are avaliable from the VIP downloads sectionso it's worth subscribing. For good tutorials on modding check here http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials.html and here http://www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials.php. Good luck. _________________ V1.4 Xbox

Yeah I heard that though I don't know anyone who's had that problem. The problem is a thin gold wire that goes to a point called D0. It is on the solderless adapter and can easily be knocke dout of the D0 hole. As I have a steady hand and experience I soldered mine in place. If you don't have both of these don't do it, one small slip and that's you motherboard screwed just go solderless. _________________ V1.4 Xbox

someone just told me that the only point to a modchip is to play backups on xbox live, and if i dont play on live i should just "softmod" it instead (just replace the HD).
i cant believe this to be true...but ill ask about it anyway.
can i just upgrade the hd, and copy actual games directly to the hd without putting a chip in? i never played on xb live and i dont plan on.
thanks again btw.

Well I reallly don't know much about soft mods but I do know that the idea of using a chip to play backups on xbox live is bollocks. As soon as you sign in with your chip turned on you will get banned. The reason chips are so much better is that they allow you to turn them on and off, change bioses easily and they are much more stable. I persoanlly think it's far better to chip than softmod but it's your choice. _________________ V1.4 Xbox

I purchase my Xenium Ice modchips from www.bmmods.com and never have had a problem. We also have some ad banners that you can click on and purchase from.
I buy my HD's from newegg.com
They always have competitive prices. I buy up to ten per week from them. It only takes about three to four days to receive. BMmods guarantees they will ship your chip in one business day...they have never failed me.
It isn't too difficult to get the HD configured, just time consuming. I can chip a 1.6 xbox in about a half hour. But, to get the Hd configured, add all the software, roms, emulators and some games, it takes me the anywhere from four to six hours!!
Later man

I have installed an Aladdin Live mod chip. When I turn on the box, the chip has a blue light that goes on. I tried following the instructions of holding the power button in for a couple seconds (sometimes up to 30 seconds) to see if the Linux screen would come up. The Power light remained green, and the XBox started normally...nothing at all different. Please help.
