Hey all, has anyone recently installed a new fan with lighting? A customer of mine sent me this fan...man, it's friggin huge. It has a cathode around it too and sooooo many different connections I don't even know where to begin with this mod. It was definitely for a PC as it has a metal cover with an on off switch. The cover looks like it fits in a rear expansion slot like where a modem or audio/video card hookup would be.
Here is a quick look at what I am dealing with. Also, most tutorials requre you to round off the edges...can't do with the cathode light. Is this one possibly just the wrong type of fan to use for an xbox mod?

The edges really need to be rounded. If you try and do a mock up with the fan in the case you'll see that it pushes on the hd and dvd brackets. You can cut those brackets, but the rear part of the dvd bracket needs one of the long case screws to go through it.
Good luck. _________________ XBOX v1.1 - Philips DVD

HA..luck is all I need. Actually, I am going to refuse installing this fan. I don't like practicing on peoples actual machines and parts. If it's too big, it's just too big.
I told him I'll look around for smaller fans, but don't anticipate finding any. He has a 250GB HD and he's all worried about over heating. I have installed so many 250s with no fan changes, and never had one customer overheat.
I told him I'd even tweak the bios to run the fan faster..will see what he chooses, but I am not cutting the fan or his case all up _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
