can someone point me in the right direction on putting XBMC as my default dash. i used aid 3.1 and installed on a large hd (60 gigs) and put unleashx as my default dash, but id like to have XBMC as my dash which is stored on the E drive as an app. i dont mind reformatting everything and redoing anytning, but i tried to put xbmc on the c drive as primary dash and it kept erroring out, and i think maybe because the partition isnt big enough?
how big is xbmc. if anyone can assist me here, id appreciate it...thanks

Just run the AID 3.1 disc again. Theres an option to uninstall the softmod dash and then run the XBMC as your dash install. Thats the way i did for my xbox and it worked perfectly.
Good luck! _________________ ____________________________________

i tried that, but i think its erroring out because my C partition isnt big enough for the whole file.
i cant make my C partition bigger either because im using the m8plus bios and aparrently it doenst support partition flexibility. at least that is what xbpartitioner tells me.
im thinking my c drive will be larger if i use a larger hard drive
i only have a 60 in there right now and it only give my C partition like 480 megs.

a bigger hd wont give you a bigger C....when you format the drive its always gonna give you the same partition size for C.... _________________

I recommend just using 1 click install.

You should start from the beginning. Restore to the MS dash and then do the 1 click install. Make sure you FTP the e:\backup folder to your PC in case anything goes bad.

i dont use M$ dash, this was a complete mod with a brand new hard drive.
i didnt even install the M$ dash at all.
it boots to only the C drive for some reason and i cant fit XBMC on there so im having trouble using it as my default.
DJB is helping me out by creating a default.xbe file just to shortcut to XBMC off the boot, but i havent figured that out either yet.
thanks though...all help is appreciated.

I had the same question as at the top, about setting XBMC as default dash. I know how to do it using AID, but i have a newer version of XBMC, that i like to put on. So if i didnt want to use AID, how would i do it? Im trying to save time, instead of using AID to install XBMC, and then having to overwrite with the new revivison by FTPING, id like to know how to set XBMC as dash ONLY by ftping. And of course i have the XBMC on my pc , ready to go. I believe I saw something about having to rename an .xbe file to evox.xbe or something along those lines, but when i use AID to do it, it puts just 1 BIG XBMC folder on my e drive. Hopefully this isnt a confusing mess of a question! Thanks guys!
I used AID 4.0 to install UnleashX as my main dash and XBMC as an app. XBMC was installed on E. To change the dash to XBMC, I followed the directions at http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=As_a_Dashboard. You will need to adjust for your specific setup.
