Granted NFS underground 2 was good but how can you say it is better then Most Wanted. I mean you dont get more realistic. It has the helicopter and the cop throw spike stips and set up roads bolcks. that is about as real as it gets. The cops even say where you are in the game, like if you drive in to the bus station the cops say the he is headed in to the bus station. So what did you not like about Most Wanted was it to hard for you or what lol?

For me, its less about realism and more about sheer gameplay and 2 player modes.

So my vote goes to Burnout Revenge, with NFS Carbon and PGR right behind it.

The game play is 5 times better in MW then UG 2 so I am still not seeing why you think it is better. Having to run from cops, driving under semi trucks and speed breaker just completely makes the game not to mention it is dark in Underground and that sucks driving at night. Underground has some fake ass cut scenes and a really bad story line where MW has live action cut scenes and a way better story line.

I llike my racing games simple. MW and Carbon are trying to do too much, trying to turn them into mini films. If I go to an arcade and pop in a racing sim, I don't want several hours worth of cut scene, I want to race!

This is why I love Burnout Revenge. There's no amazing cut scenes using famous actors. There's no fancy modding of rides, its just pure and simple race pleasure. One race to the next. Thats what I love.

Even Midnight Club has that style of gameplay, but its trying to be a bit too NFS for my liking. Graphics, storyline, these things are nothing if the game doesn't hold my attention and MW just didn't do enough to keep me.

Let me get this straight, you dont like the game to be real, have a story line and like them to be simple. Then maybe mario cart is more your kind of a game. Without the storyline and realism game would be boring. Why do you think they keep making better system so they can make games more life like, because that is what most people want and if that is your opinion then now I know why I dont read the reviews lol. To me a game should have everything great graphics a good story line to keep you into the game and realism, cause if a game doesnt have those 3 things then we all might as well keep playing Nintendo and they should stop making all the new system cause if everybody has the same opinion as you then they are waisting their time. That is my opinion. Like it or not that is how it is lol.

As you can see, I did not state that I do not want the game to have a storyline etc, just that these things aren't enough to hold me if the game isn't good enough. MW did not hold my attention, I got bored very quickly and therefore went off it.

Storylines are integral part, but in fairness, racing games don't require much storyline. Take PGR, one of the biggest and most widely played games on XboxLive! No storyline, just racing. And yet millions upon millions of people love it. Further proof that its more than just realism and storylines which make a title.

I love the downhill drifts in Carbon, it's probably the best race type in carbon too. At first it will be difficult but its awesome once you get the hang of it

Ok my turn!!! lol I think what lots of you have said (more about the game play than realism, 2 player modes) i'm going to have to agree with. If i had to choose, I'd pick halo and halo 2, if your thinking "wtf, thats not a racing game?!" I'd come back and say there IS racing in the halo series. You have to create it yourself and play on co-op with 2 warthogs. HAHAHA warthogs OWN.

But when it comes to REAL racing games

    1.NFS C
    2.Burnout 3
    3.Flatout 2
    4.NFS MW

Simply because all those games are pretty much the funnest racing games out there! NFS C is my favorite because you do everything in MW + you get a wingman which at some parts really does help out quit a bit.

Theres my go at this stuff lol.

Wow, this topic has sparked a real debate!! Very Happy

Ultimately, it boils down to this, what is it we look for in a racing game?

Is it sheer gameplay? 2 player options? Fast, fun and frantic?

or

Intricate storylines? 1 player only? Graphics to melt your eyes?

What it boils down to is that everyone looks for different things and likes different things in all games not just racing games so if you dont like a game that doesnt mean I wont like it. But now as far as Superman returns goes I think we can all agree that it is repetitive and that the flying is the only cool part about it lol. Of course I am a die hard superman fan so I did finish the game but it did just keep going and going forever 10 hours in total.

Burner, you're a wise man! Smile

You've hit the nail on the head there. In some games, its more than just black and white. Superman is a great example. The game has a really good element, the flying. The sense of speed is very impressive and well done. But at the same time, the game is repetitive, the game is repetitive, the game is repetitive.....lol

Its common to find that games have a mixture of bad and good elements, its all down to what outweighs what.
