I feel like a complete retard, so bear with me.

I've got a 1.5 xbox, and attempted an install of the aladdin live. I've done better solder jobs in my life, but L1 was kicking my ass.

In short, the resistor that you connect L1 to is now...gone.

Needless to say, all it does is frag on boot.

Is it possible to replace this resistor? or am i stuck with a $200 paper weight?

Thanks for your assistance,

-A stupid dumbass.

Man, I did the exact same thing, too big of a soldering gun. Anyway I ran a pice of solder to cover the area that the resistor used to be and it worked. connect the 2 points where the resistor used to be.

That worked great!! I was able to get the xbox itself up and running, and it works fine.

However, it doesn't seem as though the chip is working. I was expecting to see a blue light on the chip, and something different when it powered up. Its the same old xbox. I did follow the instructions on turning the chip on, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

When I flash my chip with the Aladdin Live Programmer 1.0 it will write but it will not verify. I get this error: “error at : 0x00000”. I’m pretty sure this is the only reason I cannot get it to work. Was pretty easy to physically install. I have been checking all the forums I can find, done google searches and it seems nobody is having the same problem as me. I tried flashing it with Aladdin16.bin, and m8_16.bin. Both did the same thing, would write then that error when it tried to verify.

There were some other posts on this site almost identical to what you are saying.

It had to do with certain 1.6 versions. Was yours a 1.6?

later man

I had an issue with a 1.6 and heres what I did about the flashing. I couldnt use backup from any evox boot cd and I couldnt flash my bios to the M8 1.6 fix bios. I Then used Xiso and extracted All files from slayers evox auto installer. I changed the evox INI file so that I could FTP into the box from slayers auto installer. I went into the bios folder and selected the evoxm7 ef CF 256k bios and deleted it. I then replaced it with the m8 1.6 fix 256k bios and renamed it to replace the evox m7 ef CF 256k bios. I then used xiso again and created the iso to be burned with nero. When I installed the disc on the box, I held the power button until the blubber screen was done loading. (gave it a few extra seconds) I then went and ran the backup and it worked. FTP'ed with FlashFXp and it worked. Copied my info just in case and went into flash bios and selected the bios that I actually deleted and replaced with the M8 bios and KazaaM!!!! It worked. After I was able to format my F drive to use the whole 250 GB's No need for G no more. Well I hiope that might help in any way. I know Im More lost now that before I started But Hey Hopefully someone here will help me. Why will the light go from orange to green when I let go of the power button. new one to me.
