Has anyone had experience with the new Hitachi-LG DVD drive?

I replaced my Thomson DVD because it was giving me dirty disc errors.

Now I'm experiencing problems with the Hitachi-LG when I run DVD2XBOX. It seems that DVD2XBOX doesn't recognize an original disk so that I can back it up to my HD. On the other hand the drive runs original games and most back-ups with no problems.

Any comments or suggestions?
