Hi Folks,
Just installed xbmc 2.0 from the AID 3.1 disc, having 1st ensured all traces were previously wiped from F: drive etc,,and everything seemed to be going along fine,I can even select, and implement the themes & skins this time.
However,I've now discovered there's no XBMC.xml in the XBMC directory,(F:Apps/xbmc)and consequently when trying to select xbmc as an app in UnleashX(which is now my bootup dashboard)I'm presented with:
T:\guisettings.xml Line 0
Failed to open file...etc.,and then of course I have to softboot the box.
God only knows where 'T: drive' came from,'cos we've never created one on this box,and it isn't visible through any of the file explrers, this m/c is a pretty conventional 120Gb setup as far as I can make out.
Also,I've noticed Avalunch & EvolutionX now both present me with 2 instances of xbmc in Apps.,with Avalaunch I have to select the 1st instance, and with EvolutionX I have to select the 2nd,otherwise the aforementioned T:\guisettings.xml thing pops up,and I have to reboot yet again...There's only 1 instance of xbmc mentioned on the UnleashX dashboard.
I don't have ftp facilities at present, but I'm not too scared of editing the evox.ini, on C: drive if necessary which I can do via File Explorer from UnleashX,but of course even that doesn't seem to be capable of extracting the required file from the appropriate .zip(which I've found) on the AID disc.
Should I maybe just put the extracted xboxmediacentre.xml into the xbmc .zip of the extracted ISO prior to recompiling & burning again?
Any pointers gratefully received,as I'm very confused at the moment....nothing new there then. _________________ xbox1.1 with Executer2....I think

Yup,looks identical to what happens here m8.
Did you manage to find a fix for it?
I'm just about to try burning another AID 3.1 ISO disc containing the unzipped xboxmediacentre.xml.
I believe Just about anywhere on the disc will do,so I can then hopefully pinpoint it via File Explorer, and simply(???) copy it to my F:\Apps\XBMC folder.
Obviously Auto-Update won't find the file,as it only seems to like .rars,so it can be a bit of a nightmare to mix & match a collection of differing file extensions that's looking more like liquorice allsorts by the hour.
As a brief aside:...something I've always wondered...why do people put rar archives inside zip files & vice versa,it seems to be happening more & more these days with stuff d/l'ed from NG's etc.,isn't one compression utility at a time enough for people to be playing with?
I've already tried unzipping it directly from D:\,on the xbox, but of course it only gives me the option to move/copy it to a 'new folder',which is pretty bizzare,as it ahem....'helpfully' tells me that very same 'new folder' would have to be created on D:\,when of course it can't be,as it's already a finalised,CD/DVD.
WLYK later how I get on with it. _________________ xbox1.1 with Executer2....I think

i ended up having to erase everthing to do with my original xbmc....then i ftp'd the contents of the new xbmc folder into E: (without a folder) and renamed default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe..... _________________

I installed XBMC 2.0 from the Xbins releases (FAT and SLIM), using XSelect as Dash, and all dashboards installed to \Apps, i've had no problems with my new build of XBMC 2.0. However, i haven't used the one installed on AID. So I'll give that a whirl tonight as it just finished downloading last night and I've been in school all day. Hell, I have a 1.6 i gotta ressurect, so I'll test it on that beastie. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Thanks for the feedback guys,
I managed to bung the offending xboxmediacentre.xml file into the xbmc directory, but of course it hasn't made a scrap of difference, presumably 'cos I'd already configured xbmc, and it probably needed to be in there before doing that.
At least this time I made the AID ISO with just about everything in it,skins, dashboards, even bios files, though I very much doubt I'll be rushing to install the latter.
It's more a slight inconvenience than anything else, but we may as well have stuff working properly if at all possible,so I'll try uninstalling & reinstalling xbmc completely once again, and chuck that xboxmediacentre.xml into the directory prior to configuration, whether I stick with F:\ Apps,or bite the bullet & install to E:\ & use it as my bootup dash. _________________ xbox1.1 with Executer2....I think

xboxmediacenter.xml is NOT used, you can put it in every directory under your XBMC dir and it will make no difference. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Aaaahh right, that'd explain it's ineffectiveness then AD
I have to assume it has a use of some description though, and it's not just in the AID setup for the sake of being there???
Further to my little rants/enquiries/desperation above,we've now discovered that there are no less than 3 instances of xbmc visible when Applications is selected from within xbmc itself......any bets on the 1st Dash or App to list it 4 times...or even 5 or more!!! _________________ xbox1.1 with Executer2....I think
