Mad Catz has announced today a record-breaking $102 million in net sales for the year, an 11 percent increase over the previous year's $91.7 million. Gross profit was a fat $23 million, a 10 percent increase over the $21 million recorded last year. I guess more people buy 3rd party controllers/memory then ever before...
"Exceeding $100 million in net sales marks an important milestone and sets a new benchmark," said Darren Richardson, president and CEO of Mad Catz Interactive. "Our annual net sales growth of 11.4 percent is impressive when viewed against the backdrop of softer than expected industry sales in the critical holiday season and the lack of anticipated price cuts on PS2 and Xbox consoles."
For its fourth quarter results, Mad Catz saw sales and profits down from the previous year, which the company attributes to the lack of international PlayStation 2 memory card sales. Net sales saw a slight decrease from $21.6 to $21.1 million, and gross profit was down from $5.9 million to $4.8 million.
