After welcoming a new member "Sinister Elf" I decide to check out his site (Xbox100.com) to see what it was all about. He was giving some accolades to a repair guide that was written with the XBOX in mind. The author has also written a guide for PS2 and one that covers GC/GB/GBA. I too have taken the time to purchase and review the guide and can honestly say that it is full of information that every newbie could use. There is no way I could describe the guide better than SinisterElf did, so here is his own words:

When you first open the guide

you will notice that the entire guide is in simple easy to follow subsections running down the left side of the screen. This guide works like a web site. Once you read through the how to use guide and so on the first section is all about soldering. It contains detailed how to solder how to desolder and solder basics. This are all very setailed with high res pics and even videos to watch exactly how it is done. Next section is about General information such as System specs contact information determining xbox versions and basic system disassembly and reasembly.

The guide also has a trouble shooter for error codes and error light meanings and ways to fix them. And trust me he goes into detail on how to deal with them all. The guide covers hardware issues like the dvd drive how to pot tweek the dvd drive how to replace laser all the way down to simple maintanence and general care. Modchips and how to use them are described in detail as to how to install them, flash them, eeprom backup and editing, the mech installer hack. I hate to say it over and over but this guide is the most comprehensive guide that the mod scene has to date. I could go on for pages about what this guide has in it but I think you should see it for yourself. If you are new to the scene this guide is for you and if you are a seasoned vet this guide is for you to. The amount of work and detail put into this is amazing to say the least. The easy way for me to show you what I mean is to just copy paste the menu.

Also, I think an important thing to add is not only is there detailed explanations and images, but actual video clips for a lot of the repairs. Nothing shows how to make a repair better than a video clip. The cost of each guide is $9.95 or you can purchase the entire lot for $19.95.
